"The Housekeeper and the Professor"

I don't usually worry too much about the links I use for my "books read" list (to the left of this post), but The Housekeeper and the Professor was such a lovely book--"highly original, infinitely charming, and ever so touching" as the Paul Auster quote (punctuation edited) on the cover puts it--that I spent some time trying to find a review that did the book justice. It's truly a book in which very little happens, but it's ever so fine in its simplicity. Plus, as it happens, I'm a sucker for math geekdom even if Scott had to help me with
